Stephanie Smith joined the BA Sciences team in April 2024, bringing with her a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from North Carolina State University (NCSU). Prior to her studies at NCSU, Stephanie pursued Adult Health Nursing at East Carolina University. Her professional journey began at Pitt Memorial Hospital, where she gained experience as a CNA and nursing student in a clinical setting. Transitioning to NCSU, Stephanie worked concurrently as a veterinary technician while completing her B.S. degree.
In 2010, Stephanie shifted from clinical to industrial roles, starting as a Quality Control (QC) Microbiologist at bioMerieux in Durham, North Carolina. Over a decade at bioMerieux, she held various positions including QC Microbiologist, Process Engineer, Research and Development Staff Scientist, and Manager of Quality Control Microbiology and Environmental Monitoring.
Stephanie’s extensive experience and leadership skills will be instrumental as she takes on the Associate Director of Microbiology role at BA Sciences. In this capacity, she will oversee all operational aspects of the North Carolina site, leveraging her industry background to contribute to its development.
